Wow i've never seen a video essay that i've disagreed with more than this one. ANd this comment section is just a mess of virtue signallers to boot. Just Terrible. Dahmer was an excellent show that examined the impact of Dahmer on his victims and on the people around him. It did not sensationalize or glorify his actions in the slightest. It was respectful. An entire episode was dedicated to his neighbour ffs. You people just want something to moan about at this point.

i liked the later half of the show, where they focused more on the victims.

Why couldn't they frame it as every episode following the victims? frame it like each victim is our main character with Dahmer being the monster he is? It's more about the atrocities done to innocent people, and we get him being caught by a victim who escaped, and then the 'second half' can be the law enforcement's pov when interviewing him. Wanting the focus to be on the victims and not Dahmer isn't really fucking hard.

Someone needs to make a spiritual successor to this kinds of games, as there is nothing like them to this day, at least to my understanding. I had an idea for a rhythm game inspired by Vib Ribbon, that uses a Y2K visual style with white foreground and changing colour visualiser background. It would use parkour style movement that would use the face buttons for multiple tasks based around four various types of movement: Jump, kick, grab and trick. There would be sections where you would be up in the air with angel wings, navigating through the clouds with flappy bird type controls. As well as section when your underwater where you're a merman or mermaid with swimming controls of modern Donkey Kong Country, going through rings and dodging obstacles. The health system would be measured by your characters style, which would reflect your characters look. Low on health would have it look worn and filthy, but increasing the all rounded health would have it bling with style. Unfortunately, I cannot think of a catchy tutorial music for this game, but I don't intend it to be nearly as scary as the source of inspiration. Seriously, I feel like I'm the only one who always gets the heebie jeebles when I hear that tutorial song! That's why I'm the only one who is glad Caddicarus doesn't do those fun facts anymore!

Some series do well going back and forth in their timelines. This one was terrible at it. I wanted to quit watching so badly by the time of Lexi’s play, which was the finale of the season so that’s pretty sad. I only just watched the series much later than most who watched it and have had to wait longer for a season 3, and I still doubt I’ll watch the third season. Best character of the whole show won’t even be in it.

I think the show itself was near perfect, the progression, and yes even his origin story. I do think there was a good amount regarding the victims. But if it were me I might would have done a follow up documentary about the victims

OH FINALLY SOMEONE WHO THINKS LIKE ME!!!! most around me love it and i just cannot possibly, i attempted, excitedly to watch and enjoy EVERY single season, every time one came out, cause the aesthetics slays and I'm all for Americana - its exotic to me and i like that, but i cant stand any. Go watch Mindhunter, it’s a masterpiece and I’m still gutted they had to stop at season 2. It’s such pure work of art because it’s actually trying to tell you something about the human psyche, and also based on a book and how the FBI were understanding these monsters that walk among us. It has a purpose and David Fincher has always been a master with true crime. Especially with his work on The Zodiac.

Honestly, I get why people hate him, and think it’s messed up, but.. did it happen near anyone? I mean.. I finished the whole show in less than a week.

To be "thought provoking" does not require the show to finish the thought for you... leaving it open actually works in it's favor, maybe not in each individual moment, but the show as a whole does leave you with existential questions about society... I think giving resolution takes away from the horror you are supposed to feel from these terrible chapters of history, and from the abusive behaviors people commit against others... I always find it interesting and a recurring theme of cinema how situations change, but people don't, and I think this show handles the mirroring of present day social injustice with certain social issues of the past, if to a lesser extent

I haven't watched it, but my parents did because of the trend. The most horrifying thing I heard them say, is that the show almost makes you feel bad for him going to jail. That alone makes me wish the filmmakers to go fuck themselves.

I do a true crime podcast. I always get annoyed when we embellish these stories and sensationalize them. The truth of Dahmer’s story is insane enough. I would’ve had no issues with this show if they didn’t use Jeffrey Dahmer and just created a fictional character.

Murder house was my favorite season, I actually stopped watching the series after a couple of the episodes into the second season. Oh and tates jacket In that school flashback. My man has style. Only he can take a Civil War officers and make it look awesome lol. The violence doesn’t bug me you’ve seen one shooting you’ve seen them all. All it is is a bunch of digital after effects and Squibbs it’s not real. It’s a story, some people like it some people don’t. I didn’t know that Tate was actually dead I saw the show when I was pretty young and I watched it with my girlfriend who was big on serial killers and she was wanting to be a criminal psychologist, She’s now in the FBI and she said that this show was actually one of the things that made her want to become a psychologist.
